The Giants will officially cut ties this morning with Lawrence Tynes. Jenny Vrentas of the Star Ledger is reporting the Giants will sign veteran PK Josh Brown:
The 33 year-old Brown has played in the NFL since 2003, kicking for Seattle (’03-’07), St. Louis (’08-’11) and four games for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2012.
Brown made 11 of 12 on FGA last season and is 28-for-45 lifetime over 50 yards and is 81.3% overall in his career.
The Giants are also keeping in mind Brown’s big leg, hoping to get more touchbacks and more long FG opportunities. Tynes averaged only 66.7 yards per kickoff and was not reliable on longer FGAs.
