Coughlin: Kuhn Done For Season With ACL Tear
Tom Coughlin said just minutes ago that rookie DT Markus Kuhn could be done for the season with a torn ACL. Kuhn was assisted off the field yesterday and taken via cart to the locker room.
Although Coughlin backtracked after blurting it out, he seemed sure that Kuhn’s diagnosis was correct. Kuhn, a product of Germany via North Carolina State, has dressed for every game this season for the Giants. Not bad for long shot seventh-round pick who needed work visa clearance to play in the NFL.
“That’s sad, that poor kid’s got and ACL, I believe,” the coach said.
Out for the season?
Coughlin (nods): “I haven’t seen anything really official. I shouldn’t have spoken. I haven’t talked to doctors or Ronnie (Barnes), but he did just walk in and I believe that’s when he mentioned it to Pat (Hanlon).”
On Bradshaw having x-rays taken yesterday:
“Well, he’ll have every test known to man here in the next couple of days.”
Is Hixon OK?
“Got an ankle.”

Kuhn will definitely miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee that will naturally require surgery. He did not know immediately when that surgery would take place, only that the doctors had to wait for the swelling to subside. He said he planned to stay around the team, stating it was the best chance he stood of recovering properly.
DC Perry Fewell will miss the steady Kuhn in the middle of the line. The next man up, now, is Marvin Austin, but he’s a topic for another day….
“He plays a big role. Markus Kuhn’s done a really nice job,‘ Fewell said today. “Nobody really talks about him and that’s good, because he just comes in and does his job. That’s probably why you don’t talk about him, because he’s done his job.”
