Thus Umenyiora becomes a UFA for 2013, so is free to sign with any team at start of new league year March 12.—

From Rotoworld…..He (Osi) is not expected back with the Giants, who are making a concerted effort to get younger and cheaper. Umenyiora’s departure isn’t going on the books as a release, so he can’t sign a contract until the start of the new league year on March 12. Umenyiora is far from the force he once was, but will certainly be looking for a multi-year deal. We expect him to get one.

Osi has run his course with the Giants. That doesn’t mean he’s finished. Another team will end up giving him multiple years. For the record, they probably won’t get their money’s worth. Osi is one of the vets the team has decided not invest in. With Tuck, Kiwanuka, JPP, Tracy and Ojomo all coming back, the Giants are letting Osi go to test the waters. Good luck to him.
