From Rotoworld: The ninth overall pick in the 2008 draft, Rivers has been a borderline-complete bust in the pros. Turning 27 in May, Rivers made six starts last season and racked up six special teams tackles. He’ll battle for a roster spot in camp.

Why, you ask? Why not? Rivers will most likely be signed to the minimum, and if he stays healthy he could be a valuable contributor on ST and on defense. That’s a big IF, folks, because it’s rare that Rivers isn’t ailing or hobbling with some type of issue. The Giants figure they might get what they thought they’d be getting last year out of Rivers. It is also possible they might try him at MLB.
In other news, the Giants have shown interest in Lions’ LB Justin Durant, a solid run-stopper. Durant began his career in 2007 with the Jaguars. He had an impressive 103 total tackles for Detroit last season.
