McShay’s newest mock draft: Giants nab Notre Dame’s Tyler Eifert
In ESPN draft expert Todd McShay’s newest mock draft, the Giants are projected to nab Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert.
The Fighting Irish have produced some of the better NFL-caliber tight ends in recent years, including Kyle Rudolph of the Minnesota Vikings, as well Anthony Fasano of the Miami Dolphins and John Carlson, also with the Vikings.
The Giants’ tight end situation is a bit murky with Martellus Bennett a free agent this off-season.
In McShay’s previous mock, he had New York selecting Georgia linebacker Alec Ogletree. NFL.com and CBS Sports predicted they’d go after Alabama OT D.J. Fluker, while USA TODAY Sports went with Oklahoma’s Lane Johnson.
McShay’s colleague, Mel Kiper Jr., also had the Giants going after a tight end, though he suspected it would Zach Ertz of Stanford.
