The NFL prides itself in spacing it’s schedule strategically so that every marketplace is properly covered each Sunday. This year, the Giants and Jets, who rarely play at the same time, will both kickoff at 1pm.
The Jets will be in Buffalo to play a game that features two derailed franchises. The Giants host the dysfunctional Eagles in a game that New York needs in order to keep their faint playoff hopes alive.
From Mike Vorkunov of the Ledger:
The Jets and Giants have played at the same time twice in the past 28 years. They did so on Oct. 14, 1984 and Sep. 21, 2009….Three years ago, the Jets game was moved up from a 4:15 p.m. kickoff to accommodate fans observing the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur.

NY market viewers will be torn between these two classic battles, I’m sure. Jets-Bills is only for hardcore masochists. The Giants could mail another one in vs Philly, which will not make the New Year bright around here, I can guarantee you that.
My advice, go to a sports bar and watch an entirely different game, if possible. Support the local economy, spread some cheer and hope for the best. If you are at the game, visit the Captain Morgan club (Sec 143) and if you see a Nonna’s meatball stand, stop and have a hero. Another one of my favorites is the Sloppy Joe at the Food Network kiosks located in Sections: 121 and 338.
