Giants owner John Mara dismissed a report from earlier this month suggesting wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is higher on the team’s list of off-season priorities than his teammate, Victor Cruz.

“They’re both priorities for us…We hope they’re both Giants for a long time,” Mara said, via the Newark Star-Ledger.

Earlier this month, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the team wanted to first sign Nicks to a long-term deal, then address Cruz, a free agent.

Nicks, 25, is set to become a free agent after the 2013 season when his five-year, $12.54 million deal expires. Cruz will become an unrestricted free agent on March 12 and the Giants can slap a $2.879 million first-round tender on him.

Leading up to the Super Bowl, reports centered around the progress — or lack thereof — of Cruz’s new deal. Then, Mara told reporters Cruz’s agent was demanding too much and the organization wouldn’t break the bank for the wideout.
