Friday Afternoon Report: Nicks, Hosley Closer to Returning
It appears WR Hakeem Nicks will be a game time decision for the Giants. After missing three games, the Giants are hoping to get him back this Sunday in San Francisco when they face off against the revenge-minded 49ers.
“We’ll have to see how he is,” said Tom Coughlin. The coach did not know when the Giants would make a decision on Nicks. It was supposed to be today, and although Nicks “did okay” according to Coughlin, no word on if the Giants’ star wideout will be available. “We’ll have to wait and see.”
“He’ll be cared for on the flight. If there’s a possibility, they travel,” Coughlin added when asked if flying cross-country is a determinate for a an injured player.
“I would like to see what the coaches are going to say, what they’re going to say about it in the morning and what the trainers are going to say, but I think I’ve got a pretty good shot,” Nicks told reporters.
CB Jayron Hosley (hamstring) practiced in full today after missing two games. The team needs his speed in their hobbled secondary. Coughlin said Hosley was “moving pretty good” but would not guarantee his rookie corner would dress Sunday. Hosley told the media he was “definitely” playing.
“I’d lie if I said I wasn’t,” Hosley said when asked if he was looking forward to returning. “It’s been a long two weeks and road to get healthy and trying to get back out there and help my team and right now, I’m focused. I’m focused and hungry. I’m still hungry. I’m hungry and humble. I’m ready to get out there and do what I have to do.”
