SNYGiants Staff Predictions: Giants Will Win Close One
Kel Dansby: The Steelers will head straight to the stadium before the game and NFL players are creatures of habit, so I see them getting off to a slow start. Both teams have their issues on the offensive line but the Steelers will be with out their top 2 rushers. The Giants will find a way to win a very ugly game against this pass happy Pittsburgh squad. Giants 23, Steelers 20
Sam Spiegelman: These are not your father’s Steelers; this defense is penetrable and this offense has many obvious flaws. Big Ben is arguably the best quarterback against an aggressive defensive front, but this offensive line is too suspect for me to bet against Jason Pierre-Paul and Co. Then, I expect Eli Manning to bounce back against a mediocre pass defense that is still without its star, Troy Polamalu. It’ll be a struggle to find the end zone, but in the end the G-Men win this one for New York and New Jersey. Giants 23, Steelers 19
Jared Kruger: The NFL is a very routine type of league and when you change the routine not everything will be the same. The Steelers are flying in tomorrow which already is “different”. The Giants have an advantage by having more rest and preparation. Steelers’ RB Jonathan Dwyer will not get a chance to have a third straight week with 100 yards plus and starter Rashard Mendenhall is doubtful. The healthiest running back available is Isaac Redman who has sore ankles. Star safety Troy Polamalu is out. For the Giants, David Diehl will be back in action at right tackle. Another couple notable injuries are Chase Blackburn, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Keith Rivers. Blackburn will most likely be replaced by “younger version of Chase Blackburn, Mark Herzlich,” according to Michael Boley. Bradshaw will play, Rivers may not. Giants 27, Steelers 23
