Giants Sign DT Cullen Jenkins to 3-Year Deal

The Giants have signed veteran DT Cullen Jenkins to to 3-year, $8 million contract

From Rotoworld: The deal includes $3 million in guarantees. Although Jenkins is wearing down at age 32, he still recorded 30 quarterback pressures and four sacks for the Eagles a year ago. In New York, he’ll slide right in as a projected starter at defensive tackle next to Linval Joseph, filling the shoes of free agent Chris Canty. Jenkins’ arrival is a boost to a Giants’ pass-rush that already has ends Jason Pierre-Paul and Justin Tuck in place.

Jenkins had intimated earlier tonight via Twitter that he may have a deal in place…

This illustrates how unstable the Giants’ brass considers the interior of their defense. Jenkins has some solid football ahead of him and the Giants needed a cheaper option to replace Chris Canty. They are also thisclose to writing off Marvin Austin as a bust. Of course, Austin will be given every chance to succeed, but unless you’ve seen something I haven’t, its hard to see him fulfilling the promise.
