Revised Injury Report: Nicks Will Not Play vs Panthers

The Giants now have five players ruled out of tomorrow’s game in Carolina. WR Hakeem Nicks (foot) will also not play. According to Michael Eisen of Giants.com:

“…the Giants’ star wide receiver learned he must sit out tomorrow night’s game against the Carolina Panthers in his hometown of Charlotte – hours after he was selected as the NFC Offense Player of the Week for his outstanding performance last week in the Giants’ 41-34 comeback victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “

Nicks was looking forward to playing in front of friends and relatives in his home city of Charlotte, but his surgically-repaired foot has not had enough time to rebound after a rigorous go in Sunday’s game.

Nicks had a busy day, catching ten passes for 199 yards. That alone could have kept him out this week, but to complicate matters the foot was also stepped on late in the game causing Nicks to hop off the field. The team doctors decided not clear him for action, overriding Nicks’ desire to take the field.

With Domenik Hixon already out with a concussion, the Giants will have only four healthy WRs tomorrow night: Victor Cruz, Ramses Barden, Rueben Randle and Jerrel Jernigan.

The Daily News Live crew debates how the Giants can overcome the loss of wide receiver Hakeem Nicks for Thursday’s game in Carolina.
