Giants Injury Report: Phillips, Barden Among 5 Players Out
Ramses Barden, Hakeem Nicks, Rocky Bernard, Jayron Hosley and Kenny Phillips have all been ruled out of Sunday’s game v. the Cleveland Browns.
None of the aforementioned five participated in Thursday’s practice, so it’s not a surprise they won’t suit up on game day.
It’s a crushing loss to the Giants’ secondary, which is now without its starting safety and nickel cornerback. Stevie Brown and Tyler Sash are both candidates to fill in for Phillips.
Keep in mind Antrel Rolle is still playing, though he’ll be limited by a knee contusion.
Barden’s absence in the receiving corps means the team is down two potential starters. Domenik Hixon will start opposite of Victor Cruz. Last week, he led all Giants in receiving yardage.
Rookie Reuben Randle, who has been criticized all week for his work ethic, will see time in three-receiver sets.
Nicks has a chance to return for the Giants’ Week 6 match-up in San Francisco.
