The Giants activated WR Hakeem Nicks off the Physically Unable to Perform list today. He passed the team’s physical and will be eligible to begin practicing in full in about week. The team will back at their headquarters at the Timex Performance Center in the Meadowlands by then.

“I’m very excited about that,” Nicks said as per the team’s website. “They’re letting me know that by the beginning of next week I can start doing some stuff with the team; some individual and stuff like that. They still want me to take it slow and be smart about it. But I feel good about being out there progressing myself with the team slowly but surely.” 

There is still hope he will be at full strength for the Giants’ Sept 5 opener vs the Cowboys.

In his post-practice presser, Tom Coughlin was unaware that Nicks was in the process of being cleared to play.

“We’re getting there,” he said. “He wants to go. I think he’s talking… He’s doing well enough in his drills. It’ll be soon.”

He was right.
