Packers’ Matthews ‘Doubtful’; WR Jennings Practices
Tom Coughlin said this morning he expected Green Bay’s All-Pro LB Clay Mathews (hamstring) to be on the field vs the Giants Sunday night.
“He’s in. That’s the plan,” Coughlin said when asked if the Giants were preparing for a Matthews-less Packer D. “That’s the way we approach it. He’s in. I’ll tell you, the other kids that have played for him, they played pretty well.”
That was before Packers’ head coach Mike McCarthy spoke this afternoon, stating Matthews, who missed last week’s game in Detroit, is doubtful:
McCarthy-Clay Matthews is doubtful for this week. Frank Zombo played well in his opportunity last week. Looked like his old self. #packers

In other Packers’ injury news, Pro Bowl WR Greg Jennings is back practicing with the team. His return is still questionable, but he is getting closer to the field. Adam Schein reported via Twitter earlier that McCarthy said Jennings had an “outside chance of playing.”
According to Mike Spofford of packers.com, Jennings “ran a few routes in the jog-through segment of practice and did some receiver drills during the portion of Wednesday’s workout open to reporters…It’s the first time Jennings has been involved in practice since Week 4. He had surgery on an abdominal/groin muscle a few weeks ago and has only played in three games this season.”
