Eli Sharp, Wilson Shines as Injuries Mount
There was some good news to take away from last night’s loss to Chicago. The Giants’ first teams looked solid in jumping out to a 17-7 halftime lead. QB Eli Manning was sharp, completing 17 of 21 passes for 148 yards and a TD. Rookie RB David Wilson made the most of his starting opportunity by rushing for 49 yards and receiving for 26 more.
The bad news was that the Giants did not score again and played shoddy defense in the second half. Injuries continued to mount. CB Prince Amukamara left the game on a cart with what is being diagnosed as a high ankle sprain. No news on how long he will be out, but it’s expected to be 2-3 weeks at the minimum.
Another defensive starter, LB Mathias Kiwanuka, suffered a groin strain.
“I’ve been in this situation with the same injury before, and I’ll be back before the first week,” Kiwi said after the game.
