Diehl Says He’s Willing to Restructure But Hasn’t Been Asked

Giants’ OL David Diehl appeared on the NFL Network this evening and said he would be willing to restructure his contract to help the team create cap space to sign other players, most notably WR Victor Cruz.

The only issue? They haven’t asked him.

From Tom Rock of Newsday:

Have the Giants approached him about said reworking of his contract, which has one year and $4.475 million left on it?

“Nothing as of yet,” Diehl said this evening on NFL Network. “I have been there the last seven weeks after having my knee scoped and some surgery. I have been going there, in and out each and every day. We will see what happens, with what happens [and] plays out here with Victor Cruz.”

Diehl understands the importance of having Cruz in Blue for the foreseeable future.

“You’re talking a critical piece of to our offense. It is important to get a guy like Victor Cruz back to go inside with Hakeem Nicks coming off injury.”
