Some of the Giants’ departing UFAs they chose not pursue are having a difficult time finding suitors. DE Osi Umenyiora, K Lawrence Tynes, OL Kevin Boothe and WR Ramses Barden have garnered little to no interest from teams. LB Chase Blackburn had been rumored to be on Dallas’ docket, but that talk has subsided the past 48 hours.

Osi has claimed he will be the Defensive Player of the Year this season. That’s not going to be easy to do from his couch. It was rumored the Falcons were “keenly interested” in Osi, but that was before free agency began. Umenyiora’s name has not been mentioned to be on anyone’s radar since free agency opened on Tuesday afternoon. Could he eventually end up back here? Certainly, but it will have to be a very team-friendly deal.

Boothe is on the Giants’ shopping list, but his price is probably still too high. Jason LaCanfora reported yesterday the Giants were one of four teams vying for Boothe’s services. The Cardinals, Panthers and Jets were also looking at him, but the Jets signed Willie Colon yesterday, so they may have cooled.

Before free agency began, Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea reported the 49ers were going to “move quickly” on Tynes. They haven’t, but it’s understandable with all the moves they’ve been busy making. They may eventually get around to Tynes, who we now know was asking more than the Giants were willing to pay him, hence the signing of Josh Brown.

Barden is not coming back here as far as we know, but some team may get lucky with the 6’6″ wideout. Thus far Barden has not received any offers that we know of and he has been quiet on the social media scene (@RamsesSHINES).

Another WR, Domenik Hixon, received an offer from Detroit, but apparently rebuffed them hoping for another offer. That offer probably won’t come from the Giants now that Louis Murphy is coming to TPC.
